Miscoloured photos

The last days I have uploaded a number of photos, both black and white (BW) and coloured to my family tree. The BW photos are scanned photos from the beginning of the last century. Many of them are not BW after uploading into GENI but have a dark red tone all over the picture. I have deleted and uploaded the same picture several times with the same results. Some other uploaded BW photos have kept the BW greyscale after uploading

Is it a bug in the uploading process or have I done anything wrong?

  What is the file extension?  Pictures should not change - there are no filters being applied.  BMP, JPG, PNG, GIF should all upload without any modification.  If they were, for example, a PDF, then maybe.  Can you point to an example attached to a public profile?

  All pictures (both scanned BW, colour slides and original digital) are JPG.

  I enclose one of the miscoloured BW-pictures, together with the BW original (however reduced in size compared to what it was when I uploaded to GENI) of the same photo.

  It seems to be a problem with the size of the original. The GENI program says you should upload the picture in its original size. When doing so with B&W photos around 1 MB and upwards the miscolouring happens. I have now made special versions about 200 kB each and then the result is as expected.

   

  GENI should change the instruction in uploading from use original size to something "a size less than a few hundred kB" (I don´t know the limit) for B&W photos. I have had no problems in uploading big colour photos up to 5 MB
