Please enable support for metric system. Most countries in the world use that system. I realize that a huge portion of the users are from the US where it is not used, but in the majority of European countries, no one is able to grasp the concept of "feet" and "inches" without the help on an online converter. to metric.

 

Secondly, please make it possible for users to select their preferred date system.

5/12/2015 for an American is May 12, 2015

5/12/2015 for a European is December 5, 2015

The current system is very confusing to use for us in Europe.

  After posting this, I found out that other date formats can be chosen in my account settings. Please ignore the part about the date format.

  Agree. The metric system has been on request almost since the beginning. Don't know what's so hard about it. (To convert dates to other calendars would be a lot more complicated.)

  On the other hand, most people might have stopped entering heights of their relatives. We can't know with any certainty for long deceased ones, and for living ones there may be privacy concerns.

  In Sweden and in many other non anglosaxic countries, the preferred date format is 2017-12-31 for the last day of this year. This is supported by Geni, but it would be nice to also be able to import 31 dec 2017.

  Magnus - Have you tried?

  The best way to ensure that you get a date correct and not risking switching month and day is to spell the month name in the input field for dates.
  
  Either short-form "31 dec 2017" or the long form "31 December 2017"., - where the month name is spelled according to your language setting (ie the Swedish spelling of December if that is your selected language.
  
  If you still insist entering dates using just numbers you have a personal setting for which order in the account settings you find, as for all other sites, by clicking your own name in the upper right corner of any Geni window.
