How to merge trees

Gertrud Hackmann is my 13th great grandmother:

Her father  Hans Luneborg = Lueneburg:

is then my 14th great grandfather. But Geni does not find the relation and reports a very complicated relation through by wife.

I assume this is because it is reported from another tree and some merging is needed. I am not experienced in using Geni. Can someone tell be how such a merging is done.

  I would also like to know.  Right now, as a noob, I suspect merging requires a paid subscription to Geni.com

  Merging does not require a subscription.  Here is the FAQ on merging: http://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/sections/206535907-Merging

  But do note that Tree Matches, which alert you to duplicate profiles within Geni that you may wish to merge, does require a subscription.

  To Knut's question, yes it could be that some merging needs to take place if there are duplicates.  Alternatively, paths are cached and may not always reflect the shortest most direct path between two persons.  This can be refreshed by Curators or users (after a certain cache time period).
