I have an incorrect line from a g-g-grandmother back 3 more generations of grandparents. This was due to duplicate names of contemporary cousins. I know the correct names to replace them, but I don't know how to break in without losing the links to previous ancestors and not adversly affect others who may have used the data I intend to change

Jeff, Geni Curator Gary, if you want to describe what is currently incorrect and how it should be, I'd be happy to correct it. Or if we need to disconnect it somewhere and reconnect it somewhere else, I can do that as well. We won't lose the profiles if we disconnect them and we can reconnect back into the existing branch at the correct location.

Gary HITCHCOCK Thank you Jeff. My 6th ggf was Elisha Lillie (Lilley), My tree currently shows the incorrect descent through his son George, to Abner, to Phineas, to Mary Ann (b. 1820). The line should be through his son Jonathan, to Turner, to Martin, to his daughter Mary Ann (b.1826). The mistake was due to family records and local histories which did not accurately follow the repetition of family names among cousins in large families.
