I'm new to Geni and been trying to get going on my Mac, both on Safari and Chrome, but my family tree is not displayed correctly or the screen updates are very slow and often pop-up windows don't show properly. I don't want to use Flash for security reasons. How to use Geni without Flash?

Bjørn P. Brox Geni are still working on a none-Flash version.
About flash: Most browsers now have an option to only allow flash for specific sites, meaning you can enable Flash for Geni only until we have a better solution.

Jim Henderson Geni already works for iPad. I don't own one, but I have used one on occasion. You just run Safari and go to geni.com.
Trees display in HTML5.
In my experience, an iPad or phone is OK for showing information about your branch of the tree, but for serious work and development of your information there, I think a full computer is more effective.
