I used to be able to edit profiles, now I can't even remove my ex or update on my son!

 I've read that some bugs were occuring with others. I think I have the same problem. I can't remove my ex partner and I can no longer add information to any of my relatives. Is this the result of you guys merging with MyHeritage?? I used to love this site, but if this is the way it's going to be that's disappointing.

In addition, it's asking my to merge duplicates, when i know that there aren't any duplicates.

Lastly, the tree comes up now with poor resolution and is lagging. It has never done this before. I haven't logged in for few months, but these are some significant bugs.

What is the problem with the site??

  You can't remove your ex-partner because you're a basic member.  Basic members have never been able to split a tree.  You can, however, delete his profile, because he has no parents listed, though it would be best for genealogy if you kept it as he is listed as the father of your son.

  You should be able to update your son unless the manager, Paul, has blocked you, but you won't be able to edit your parents or siblings, since they are Geni members.

  The resolution has not changed on the site, but some web browsers have disabled Adobe Flash by default, which is used on the tree.  If it's not enabled, Geni shifts you to a different "html" tree, which is significantly less functional.  See this guide to enabling Flash.  https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html

  As for duplicates, I'd have to see what it's talking about.

  Hi Jeff. I've been a member since 2008. I have. Even able to edit profiles in my family before. If I knew a date of birth or had a picture I would add it. I actually wanted to update my exs info and now find that I can't. Actually I added that picture last year now I can't change that either. 

   

  Can you advise how i would delete delete my ex please. I want to be the manager of that. And it's nice of you to coach me that in the interest of geneology I don't do that, you have no right to say that. You do not know the circumstamces. 

   

  There are are so many duplicate issues but I don't have the time to screen capture everything so I will leave it and ignore it.

  To delete your ex, you should be able to click the [x] in tree view on the profile or in profile view, go to the Actions menu on the top right and select Delete Profile at the bottom of the menu.

  I'm not aware of any permission changes to family group profiles.  If the profiles are not claimed (a Geni user), you should have full access.

  So I found something out. I went into Manager Options and removed my cousin from being the Manager?! Not sure why that even a) allowed me to do that b) why he would have been linked to that in the first place. I still think it may habe been a script carryover from my cousin having added me. Anyway looks like it's fixed now.

  Thanks for the update Lisa.  That is odd.  My first thought was that maybe your cousin blocked you from editing the profiles they manage.  It might have let you take it over since Paul hasn't been online since 2013.  Geni considers it abandoned at that point.  If you report his profiles as abandoned, Geni might transfer them all to you.

  Go to the actions tab on one of those profiles and select Report. Then select abandoned tree.
