How can I control which parent determines relationship in ancestor search?

Both of my parents descend from sons of King George III...my mother from the Edward Langley, 1st Duke of York, and my father from John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster. Is there anyway i can switch manually back and forth between my parents when looking at family trees and relationships. My fathers great-grandfathers will be uncles on my mother's trees and vice versa...the plantagenet trees are difficult as is...geni seems to flop from one parent to the next while i'm in there and will randomly choose one parent or the other if i request a ancestor path. it would be help if there was a way to lock it down or switch between the two to see both relationship paths.

  I want to know the same thing: How can one parent be "turned off" so as to see the relationship to an ancestor through the other. I know of one case for sure where I am related to someone more directly on my mother's side but Geni picks my father's side to show.

  I see it has been years since this question was asked.  Do the Geni staff ever look at the questions?  I very much want to do the same thing as the two above members.

  Hi Olivia, Geni will calculate the closest blood and in-law path to you/focus person, if either can be found.

  Otherwise, you may be seeing the one which was cached or calculated first. Paths can be refreshed one week after the initial path is found. If changes have been made to the tree and you would like to recalculate the relationship path sooner, please contact a curator.
