Whats the point of a Geni Subscription without MyHeritage Subscription?

Well, I'm into my first day of the 14 day free trial of Geni.  I'm impressed with the interface and the way they manage the tree data by not allowing gedcom import.  However, one of the listed reasons for buying the subscription is that one can find matches and (presumably) grow ones tree.  However, after creating records for myself, my parents, and grandparents several matches were shown, many of them listing private information about living people, MY LIVING PEOPLE!  Now, not only is that a problem with me but when I click on these matches I'm transported to the MyHeritage website and asked to give them $175 to see the matches I found on Geni.  Hmmmm, let me see if I get this correctly, I pay Geni $120 (on sale) to see matches that MyHeritage then wants to charge me $175 to actually see....  Hmmmm, I guess in truth, Geni doesn't tell me I can actually REVIEW or DO ANYTHING with the matches it finds, only that it finds them for me.  Soooooo, I gotta spend almost $400 per year to use the system for anything but a fancy Access Database?  No wonder Ancestry is the leader in genealogical research; twice the records at half the price.

Someone PLEASE educate me and tell me what I'm getting for the $120 Geni wants me to spend for a yearly subscription.  I just don't see it....  Additionally, is a MyHeritage Subscription necessary to get any value from Geni?  :-(
