Is it possible to upload DNA test results downloaded from Ancestry on to my Geni profile? I have discovered a lot of potential relatives on Geni, but am not going to pay again to repeat all of the family DNA testing that has already been done.

Geni Support Team Hi Brian, unfortunately, we are unable to accept Ancestry test results at this time. We currently only accept DNA test results from Family Tree DNA.
If you would like to connect your DNA test results, you may want to consider uploading your Ancestry results to Family Tree DNA for free (https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer). Once your results have been transferred, you will be able to link your Family Tree DNA account to Geni and import your results. Simply follow the steps in this FAQ: https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229707687-How-do-I-link-Family-Tree-DNA-test-results-to-my-profile- -
Michael John Dembski Disappointing that GENI does not allow uploads from Ancestry or 23andme. Family tree only allows you to create an account with the purchase of a kit. I am not going to pay for another kit, so much of the GENI functionality is of no use.

John Nahay Sadly, the link https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer does not place you in any special part of FTDNA website. It just logs you in to their homepage, which gives ZERO information on how to upload one's Ancestry autosomal DNA. I face the same problem as you, Mike John Dembski & Brian. I already paid for the "ancestry" DNA test with Ancestry (which I have since learned is called the autosomal test), and a "health" DNA test with Vitagene. I learned about FTDNA only from Vitagene. I paid $10 to Vitagene thinking it was $10 to FTDNA: it did nothing for me. I was curious in FTDNA only because I wanted a 2nd site to analyze my "health" DNA. Vitagene's site told me nothing useful. But I did not get even THAT for my $10. Vitagene didn't even transfer my DNA to FTDNA for my $10, totally misleading me. And it was ESPECIALLY infuriating to learn that FTDNA never even heard of Vitagene (customer service at FTDNA told me that). So, so far, only Ancestry has my autosomal DNA and only Vitagene has my "health" DNA. FTDNA's software for editing family tree is terrible. Ancestry's is FANTASTIC. Close to 5000 names now. So, I want to keep editing in Ancestry.com only. However, I have since discovered that Geni's records + record-keeping are even deeper & extensive than Ancestry's. So that creates a huge practical problem: how to keep editing in Ancestry but incorporate records from Geni. Geni's editing software is EXTREMELY overwhelming and confusing. I successfully uploaded to Geni the GEDCOM file I downloaded from Ancestry. But, when I deleted it from Geni and tried to upload a newer, bigger version, Geni would not take it. I am currently waiting for my $119 FTDNA Y-37 paternal line DNA kit to come in the mail. Just HOPE I can trust FTDNA not to cheat me, mislead me about what I'm paying for.
