How to act on unattended merges which are correct and need to be done.

After requesting extensive merges, mostly not completed (I have 1000 of them waiting now), I want to go ahead and do them, identify for a curator to do them or another option if there is one.
There are many people who rarely come on or haven't in many years and these just sit there.

I see the histogram, but can't drill down to the data and, it's only a year back and I've requested numerous ones going back several years. I would be nice to track personal work history beyond a year, etc.

Lengthening the time and drilling into the data will allow to see actual work and complete or notify others as is useful. The pending merges are not likely to be done, if more than a couple months pass and when the manager no longer comes on, it becomes orphaned.

Over the years, I've written many request notes, they got notes from automation and they remain unattended. I don't want to write each individually or request to be a manager, etc., individually since those would not likely be answered. Asking to become a manager doesn't work in all profiles and again, may go unattended. If requesting to take over all "orphaned" profiles of a manager without their permission, especially for private profiles would help. While permission is ideal, if they don't answer email for whatever reason, they become orphaned.

I have hundreds of blood relatives within the last 250 years which are orphaned this way and I have little hope of ever seeing who the people in my family are and when found, are compelled to add them in and have yet more merge requests to make and wait for.

For the benefit of all at the Pro level and for me having added thousands of profiles, please provide ways to complete the work that took enormous hours to discover and request and also to prevent duplication which is more work.

  Additionally, it appears that the 1000 merge requests is a limit and goes back about 2 years for me. This means that all the prior merge requests, no longer on the list, are going to have to be found again and redone or lost, to get any action on them.

  I have no way to find details of merges prior to the limits and this means that the old ones are not likely to ever be merged.

  I am very curious what my and other family counts might be if we could safely and accurately complete these merges without the rounds of required action that may never be addressed.

  I have a lot of unattended merges as well. The original managers are inactive and no replacement manager can be found. In addtion, a curator told me that they're not allowed to merge non-public profiles. So basically, these merges will sit around forever. This policy somehow goes against the idea of one big tree.

  This is a real problem that I have complained about many times. It is evident by the complete lack of response to any request I have logged on these pages that there is no interest in developing Geni to actually provide a service to its frequent users.

  If the goal really was to enable the ongoing development of a world tree, then the many entreaties to sort out all of the entrenched anomalies that you Robert, Patrick and others including myself have highlighted would have led to some kind of workable solution whereby "profile management" has an expiry date at which point management of a profile reverts to someone who is willing and able to action the necessary merges.

  There must be tens if not hundreds of thousands of merges that should be completed that are blocked by the inactivity of the so-called "profile manager". It makes a mockery of the whole intent of the world-tree, not that anyone at Geni appears to care.

  When is the last time you noticed any kind of change or improvement to the system? It makes me very reluctant to give these people money.

  Add me to the list. I have hundreds of outstanding requests, some over a few years old. Also have a few curators who have locked profiles and will not respond to requests to unlock them so that correct info can be entered and the data conflict resolved.  

  For my knowledge, how many of the managers have to approve? Some profiles have 25+ managers.

  Same problem here. The manager is nonresponsive and there seems to be no alternate route—I’m unable to merge profiles despite them having almost entirely identical biographical information. Is there no admin override option?

  For public profiles or private profiles born more than 150 years ago you can ask help from a curator.

  For non active managers you can report them as inactive from the Actions menu on their profile. If you are lucky Geni will find another manager to add to the private profiles of the inactive manager (who hopefully will assist in completing the pending merges).
