I have a better and larger tree in gedcom which I like to import to Geni as a Basic member. However, I need to (must) first match a few existing persons, under a Pro membership. Is there any way to do this under a Basic Membership?

Job Waterreus You do not need a Pro membership to import a GEDCOM, but you it will be very hard to find duplicate profiles because as a basic user you can only find profiles that you manage or that are managed by a collaborator. So you will need to use an external search engine to find the duplicates and that will only work for public profiles. Depending on the number of profiles finding the duplicates and resolving the issues can take a number or weeks to a number of months (if you are a frequent user otherwise it may take longer)
Please also remember that you should only import a GEDCOM once (otherwise all profiles from the GEDCOM will be duplicated), so after the import you will have to update your GEDCOM source and Geni.
Depending on how many unique profiles there are it may be less work to use SmartCopy (https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783) to copy over those profiles.

Christer Axelsson Thing is, if I (or Geni) just could delete my existing tree it would be great. Then I would import a much larger and updated tree (GEDCOM-file). To the benefit of Geni-users. I am just not that interested in a Pro membership.
SmartCopy seems to not handle GEDCOM-files...?

Job Waterreus That would be difficult if your tree is already connected to the Geni World Tree. You should not delete any profiles that have other managers.

Job Waterreus If you want to use SmartCopy you would need to import your GEDCOM on a SmartCopy supported site (like MyHeritage) to be able to use it to copy over those profiles that are not yet on Geni.

Michael John Dembski Yea, I am finding GENI to be worthless. I imported a branch of my family to try and work with just a small group. Now I find that I can not import the rst of my family without a paid My Heritage account. I have found virtually no good data on GENI other than my own data on My Heritage.
