Hi Gabriel, can you please clarify how you are printing the tree and provide more details about this issue? Are you printing the family tree chart or are you doing a basic print of your entire tree?
Hi, I also today tried to print a Basic tree - the first page of 11 and 17 pages. The results are terrible: The dimension of every profile rectangle is 9x4 mm (!!!) when printing 11 pages, and 14x6 mm when 17 pages (865 people on tree). So please, try to see or read anything on these rectangles. For comparison, my tree printed through Adobe Flash on December 22, 2020 had rectangle dimensions about 20x7 mm and every name was readable within them (277 people on much more pages than 17). I can send you m PDF file, but don´t know how. Anyway, I think the same you also can do from your trees on your own.
Hi, Support Team, what is the news with you? No answer, no work on resolving our printing problems, so what am I think about this? Today I also tried to print my mini-tree by basic print only, i.e. tree with ancestors only. The results are terrible - there is the only possibility to create a PDF file (for about 320 people) on 7 or 8 pages A4 (I have chosen 8), rectangles of persons 10x4,5 mm (try to read something in them), photos in them 4x4 mm, unreadable names or dates, only a few upper (the most old) generations without the bottom (younger) generations recorded on it, without possibility to change this - I do not need a chart with for example 12 people only (I did not try to print so small chart, but I think it only could be able to show bigger rectangles)... My second experiment was trying to print a basic print tree with 62 people on it - the results are profile rectangles 22x9,5 mm, unreadable names and dates, 8x9 mm photos in them. The only readable parts are the Geni rectangle on the 1st page, the Legend on the 3rd page and the number of pages at the bottom of 3 pages... For the first time I also tried to print my family chart. Terrible results - 3-generations chart on A4 paper, photos with sometimes great heads of persons off of center, with cut parts of their heads or bodies. The only good thing on this chart are readable names and dates. So when do you think to solve this great issue of your web site? I cannot imagine that no one tries to print his tree and that I am the only one to whom this misses... Situation on January 23, 2024. Thank you
Not the solution you are looking for, but you could try downloading a GEDCOM and use another program to print your tree.
Hi Gabriel, we are currently working on improving the quality of basic print. We'll let you know once we have an update.
Hi Gabriel, we have improved the resolution of the PDF. Names and photos should be a lot clearer when you print your tree.
Hi, Support, sorry, but I see anything as it was sooner. My tree of 20 ancestor and 3 descendant generations was made to pdf only on 23 pages A4 on a horizontal line one next to another as a basic tree. Profile rectangles 10,5 x 4,5 mm, profile photo 3,5 x 3,5 mm in them. The top 10 generations was printed only instead of 24; cca 67 mm above the first top generation and 67 mm under the 10th generation from the top is empty there, i.e. the 11th to 24th generations miss. I do not know why you make the pdf file only in one A4 line and not in more lines one above the other, as it was used by Adobe Flash tree years ago, when the trees were huge. You can win nothing in only one line... Family chart - I can see no change: terrible photos as they were before...
