hello, I am trying DESPERATELY to relinquish management of a profile for people I DO NOT KNOW but somehow I manage. when I try to use the "relinquish management" I click OK, and then get back to "you are the manager for this profile". I do not know anyone in that family to relinquish to... I do not know how to get rid of these profiles. Please help because otherwise I will just begin relinquishing to any stranger I find on the site to get rid of these profiles.

I think there needs to be another manager on the profile before you can relinquish it. I'd suggest looking around that tree for someone else that manages profiles or a curator that helps with that area. Then add them as a manager to the profile or ask them to request management. Otherwise, maybe Customer Service could take them. Usually it's not a big issue - I manage thousands of profiles that I'm not connected to. As people leave Geni, they try to transfer them to the closest active family member.
When you relinquish a profile you can assign another as manager without any approval you are the only manager. Enter the profile-id of that user and click search more to ensure that the system find the user.
thank you for the comments. my difficulty is that I am the *only* manager for these people who I do not know at all. So, I have no one to relinquish to, and when I leave they will have no manager. I am thinking the best workaround now is to just assign them to other random people and let them work it out.
