I like the layout but feel there are more people in th US than international...... You get people to pay you money but there is nothing there for me to find. I was happy to help fill in gaps for others but no I do not think you have anything to offer me in return.
Geni said that if was free to sign up and look for ancestors. But when I signed up and searched for an ancestor and then clicked on "profile" all I got was a page offering me a free trial, that would eventually cost me money if I didn't cancel in time. It's like ancestry.com. It's a scam to say that it's free to sign up, but if you actually want to use the site--you gotta pay. That's dishonest and despicable! Fuck Geni--you're not getting any money out of me!

The vast majority of the site is free for building your tree. There are advanced features, like search that have a cost, to keep the website running.
OK. Geni Curator Team. Thanks for the cute bullshit response. You know that Geni's enticement is laid out to make it seem like it's a free site. There are free search engines that have found a way to money without a "Pay Us!" page popping up. As for the "building family tree" part, I can do that myself on any of a dozen website builders that give me free websites and blogs.
But, thanks anyway. Now how do I remove my name from your database and cancel my account? I've searched all the options, and I haven't found that option.

While some search sites may give you the perception of free service, ads and selling your personal information is not model Geni wants. Sorry this doesn't fit your needs. To close your account, go to your 'Account Settings' and click 'Close Account' to deactivate your account on Geni. Since you're not in a shared tree, all your data will be deleted.
