My marriage to Nancy Selling ended more than 7 years ago & is denoted in the family tree, but an anniversary date for the marriage appears in the notifications.

Jeff, Geni Curator Alan, she is still listed as your wife, not your ex-wife. Edit your profile and select the relationships tab. From there, you can change your marriage status to Nancy.
