cant open a tree

I just joined, but Geni will not open a tree for me to fill in, so i cant even start.  when i select tree from the menu, a box opens to tell me to activate the plug in, but when i try/to do that, i get a blank page.  what is wrong with the program.  It does the same thing when i try to open a/tree already made.  Do i have to join pro for it to actually work?

  Your issue is Adobe Flash. Perhaps try a different web browser like Google Chrone.

  First might try making sure Flash is up to date as some browsers will disable old versions.
