Someone added themself as a manager of one of my managed profiles. How and why is this possible without my permission? I checked the list of Curators on Geni and the person who did this is not listed as a Curator.

Jeff, Geni Curator Any pro member can merge duplicate public profiles, which would add a manager. Also anyone in your family group can accept a merge on private profiles. The goal of Geni is a one world tree, so duplicates are merged down to a single profile.

Ct Can you remove a pro member from managing your private profiles?

Jeff, Geni Curator Geni is a collaborative tree, so there is very little "my" profile unless you're describing your own profile. If they're already a manager of the profile, then no. Technically, they have the same rights on the profile as you. Pro or Free doesn't matter with regard to permission. Everyone within the family group has certain rights to the profile and at some point, the other person created their own version of that profile and now the profiles are one. No one outside your family group should be able to see the private profiles, unless the person that created the profile happens to be outside that group.

Nicholas A Nicolaides Jeff - I have no problem with your response and I agree with the sentiments. But recently I have seen a situation that just doesn't seem right. A distant relative (thrid cousin of my wife and a pro member) has been copying part of our shared tree. I then (without much consideration) merged all the duplicates. I discovered he also added profiles for my immediate family, including my children who are both under 13. I merged these too. I have no w discovered that he, along with me, is a co-manager of my children's profiles. Surely this can't be right? I have no problem with his having access to view my children's profiles (after all he is part of my Family Group) but why should he have the ability to change details for my children? I do not know him personally and although unlikely in this situation may decide to add deflamatory comments or add changes that are not correct. All I would appreciate at least control over who has manager rights for my kid's profiles. I have since removed him as a collaborator but he remains a member of my Family Group. Is there a resolution for this? What are you views on this situation?
