No More Birthday/Anniversary Greetings....:-(....

 I asked two questions in a post to this forum. The administration marked the post as Answered even though their one-sentence Comment failed to answer either question. To bottom of the page it said "Topic is closed for comments" (!!!), and there does not seem to be any way for the poster to respond..... In all forums I have seen, the poster decides if his question has been answered.  I was very surprised to find such an unusually unhelpful and inaccessible administration....:-(....There does not seem to be any way that we can write to Geni.

1. My first question was if there is a Contact address or link to write to the Geni administration. If there is no Contact address, I would like to know that (and would appreciate knowing why.....).   

2. The birthday/anniversary notifications I get from Geni have a link saying  "Send a birthday/anniversary Greeting" (not "Leave a message in their guestbook(s)"). This link used to take me to a page where I could write a greeting, choose a gift (or not), specify if I wanted Geni to wait till the day of the event to send it or not, specify if I wanted it to be private, and then click a button. The Greeting would automatically appear on the person's page. Done! The same link now takes me instead to an advertisement to upgrade. If I don't, it takes me to another advertisement. If I don't buy there, I end up on my own page, at which point I then have to navigate to the page of one of the people having the anniversary, leave them a regular ordinary message (not an anniversary Greeting), then navigate to the page of the other person of the couple and do the whole thing again. In the past, even in cases where no gift was chosen, it would still say Happy Birthday/Anniversary in colorful letters--- a birthday/anniversary Greeting.

Am I correct in understanding that there is no longer a way to leave a festive greeting with a free gift or no gift in a single click like before?

If this is the case and I now have to go thru the rigamarole outlined above, I will no longer be sending birthday/anniversary greetings through Geni. Judging by the posts here, it seems I am not alone...!

  The community boards are being checked on a daily bases by Geni employees. We do not provide a contact address but again we do monitor the boards. 

  The virtual gift have been made a pro or Geni plus feature and can only be accessed by having a membership such as the pro or plus. The guestbook is still available for you to leave a message.

  Hi Monica!

  Thank you for your prompt response! The real answer was leaving the Add Comment button on this thread as opposed to closing the thread to further comments as was done the last time....:-)....! I think closing a topic should be done only under very unusual circumstances. Very often, future readers have related questions as a result of reading a thread, and it is much better for anyone searching HELP to be able to post there so that all the posts and replies are kept to gether in one place....

   

  I think it was quite clear from the double advertisements that virtual gifts are no longer available for non-paying members. Fair enough. But here the real question was whether you have also taken away from non-paying members

  a) the automatic, fixed Greeting (simply "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Anniversary")

  b) the ability to get from the email notification straight to the page where you write your message.

   

  If (b) has been taken away, the email notification link should say something like

   "To leave a message in their guestbook(s) OR to send a special greeting or gift"  CLICK HERE

  After the Please Buy ads, a No Thank You button should take the member directy to the message book page of the person referred to in the email notification. As it is now, it's really 'annoying' for long-standing members to run the gamut only to end up having to start navigating to the page....:-(....MUCH faster and easier now to just send an email greeting and not go to the Geni sight....This would of course not be to your benefit......

  If we can no longer send birthday or anniversary greetings why weren't we notified that this is no longer an option. It has been very annoying this week to run the gamut through the ads, click on "no thank you" and it seems like a circular process, never getting to the appropriate place.
