Don't offer any other premium services, but increase the basic service to at least 300 people just to make it a useful tool. It takes at least 100-150 family members just to get to the distant relatives you originally set out to reach. If GENI really wants to accomplish their "mission" of connecting the world, then they need to allow basic users the ability to reach out and establish those distant connections.

Todd Thigpen I agree. Let people grow their tree by adding distant relatives. They will most like upgrade if they find possible matches. However, they are less likely to get to the point where those distant relatives may have a match if they cannot enter them. I think people will at least need to add 4 generations of families in order to begin matching with other contributors. If you can't plant, then you can't grow.
