I do not want to have an account, please delete me NOW

 

 

 

This should be something to easily do via email or the site

  As I understand it - Accounts can be closed from your Account Settings.  BUT - the account is not Deleted, somebody else can take over management of the profiles.  Possibly you could avoid this if you deleted all of them.   And / or all the info in each of them.    Not sure.   Suggest you delete info and/or profiles you do not want others seeing, then log in at least once every six months to ensure you are still manager / a manager of them.

  I agree, you should be able to delete your own profile.  But there's money to be made from all this data, and I'm sure Geni will make a nice profit from it.  

  My profile was created, and my personal information entered, by a relative without my permission.  I've made my profile private, but the data still remains.  There should be a way of deleting it all permanently.  Hint, hint, Geni.

  Hello:

  To close your account please login to your Geni account and delete any of the information you would like removed from the site, including any photos or profile information you added.  Once you have removed the information you do not want on the tree, simply select 'Account Settings' and 'Close Account' to deactivate your account on Geni.

  Otherwise, to simply deactivate your account, you can find the close account page in your settings: Close Account

  Please note that each user must remove his/her data before closing their account. Otherwise their data will remain in the family tree for their relatives. Once you have already closed the account, you will be required to ask a relative to either remove your data on your behalf or re-invite you to your tree so you may do so yourself.

  If you have already done all of the above and you have found another profile under your name, it could be that a relative has added a profile for you. Please see the following link for more information which can be found under our FAQ's:

  I can't recall how I got on your mailing list.  I do not have a tree on here nor do I want one.  Since there is no "Account Setting" button on any of my pages that I see, I cannot delete my account.  Please take me off your mailing list.
