It says this: Give your family a FREE 14-day risk-free trial of Geni Pro! but it doesn't tell me what will happen after that.
I don't want to send it to someone & I be charged if they decide to keep it. There's no info on the page, just check a box & send button. I want to know what happens BEFORE I do it.
When I search all I can find is if someone decides to try it for themselves, that doesn't answer my question at all.
I, too, am curious about what happens if I elect to "Give a Free Geni Pro Trial."
Does it differ in any way from what happens if someone chooses the trial for themselves?
For example, I'd be very likely to use this feature if it gave someone a one-time 14-day Free Trial without asking them for a credit card.
That's the sort of free trial that might motivate people to pursue premium memberships.
Why are we seeing all these questions but no answers? How do we actually get answers from Geni.com?
It is similar to when you choose to do the 14 Day Free Trial yourself. Your relative will receive any email from you stating to try the 14 day free trial, once they click on the link they will be given the option to choose which subscription they would like to try (it also provides the Basic Free version if they choose not to do the trial at all). Once they choose the subscription they would like, they will need to enter their credit card information. Once they sign up, they will receive an email receipt of the subscription. If they cancel within the 14 day free trial period then they will not be charged for the subscription, otherwise they will be charged for whichever subscription that was chosen (this is included in the email receipt confirmation).
In other words, they cannot take advantage of the free 14-day Trial you are "giving" them without committing their own Credit Card - is that correct? Doesn't seem like much of a gift.
Does it count as them using up their one-time 14-Day Free Trial, or not? Can you give a Free 14-Day Trial to someone who has already used a Free 14-Day Trial? And if so, - even if you have also used your Free 14-Day Trial?
i agree 'Daniel Birchall' having us submit a credit card # does't seem like the best way to motivate users to continue on to a paid membership, especially if we only want a FREE trial. if we submit a credit card then it is not free, as they then have the #, and can access our credit cards at any time. so therefore it is really not FREE
