I was an early user at Geni and I uploaded a sizable GEDCOM. Since then, Geni has changed the rules -- without discussion or consultation with the users -- in such a way that they are now in breach of their own terms of service, as stated when I joined. Geni has apparently decided THEY now own the data uploaded by the users. My family members with accounts aren't happy about thispredatory policy, either. Since I am apparently no longer in control of my own information, I want to not only close my account but to DELETE the information I previously uploaded. I should add that I know of several complaints filed with two of the national genealogical organizations regarding Geni's bait-and-switch practices.

Anilkumar Nair Puthalath I have uploaded a sizable GEDCOM of my family & friends on Geni , merging trees ,merging duplicate profiles. Now you have changed the rules & I no more have the authority to do those functions unless I subscribe to a PRO account. This is an unfair practice. I am am no longer equipped to help my relatives & friends which I uploaded , with their tree problems. I was given a complimentary Pro account when I was nominated your Curator. Now I remain only as a truncated curator unable to do even any operation I could do in the beginning. I dont intend to upgrade my account & if things dont improve , I would like to quit, but at the same time you must delete all the entries made in these three years.
