assign parents

If I don´t see any duplicates, I try assign parents. But, "geni" don´t do this. And any time  I see  this:
" We´re having a problem competing your request. Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact help.geni.com!

  After getting this problem multiple times, I tried Edit Relationships. I received an error message. I then clicked on the ignore message. Not sure exactly what it said. The names were then displayed. I clicked the Check Box and was able to remove the unwanted connection.
