I understand that your policy is to "transfer ownership" for the record I entered to a person who claims that record. That is ridiculous and one of the major reasons I refuse to upgrade. "I" am studying the genealogy for "MY" family and "I" intend to manage all records that "I" enter! For example, I have had two deaths in my family and the records that I entered are sending birthday notices to the rest of the family - I tried to edit those records to mark them as deceased but don't have access. When I tried to contact Geni, I was told I don't own that record any more. What!!!!! Again, this is a ridiculous policy. I use Family Tree Maker which provides me with realistic managment of "MY" genealogy records. I strongly suggest you consider a manager/owner for your family trees which other people can update or correct but they don't own it!! It's MY genealogical tree.

Laurie Fox I finally found this info in the FAQ section. Presumably, once you've "reported" the info, Geni will do SOMETHING with it!
How can I update the profile for someone who is deceased?

Otherwise, if they have claimed their profile, you may simply navigate to their profile page, click "Actions" and select "Report." Choose "Deceased" from the drop down and please provide a brief comment. Lastly, click "Submit."
Or if you are a Geni Plus or Pro, you may send us their name and email address and we will be happy to further assist you with this.
