I cannot under marriage, find "Partner" and how do I indicate the illegitimacy. That branch has taken the fathers surname.

When you go to 'Edit Profile', then 'Relationships' tab there is a drop down box in which you can choose whether she is the Wife, Fiance, Partner, Ex-Fiance. She will probably be considered more like a 'Partner'. You may add notes about the relationship in the 'About' section on both profiles as there is not an option to mark a child as illegitimate.
