Jeff, Geni Curator Not sure what you mean. If you're asking if can you disconnect the record and smart matching that tie into MyHeritage data subscriptions, then no, you can't disconnect. It is part of the software platform and the services offered. However, the service tying into MyHeritage doesn't mean that your data is there in any way or that you have an account with them - so in that sense, it's already disconnected. They are separate sites - Geni just makes use of the data services under MyHeritage as part of their product in order allow greater research, documentation, identification, etc.

David Smith There are occasions where you get too much noise when new matches are detected. If one removes the ability to see stuff under Myheritage, then this noise disappears.

Bjørn P. Brox I suggest you click "Me too!" on an already existing suggestion, and hope that Geni consider it when getting enough "likes":

m well i think is horrible that in that myheritage website, my full name appears there when i have never agreed to that and all my settings in this website are private...

Jeff, Geni Curator m, your fully name is visible only because it's identified as a duplicate, which is similar to Geni's in tree visibility. If they didn't already know your name and the names of your family, then there would be no match to show.

Jeff, Geni Curator m, please see this post which has instructions on exlcuding: http://help.geni.com/entries/23388908-Do-MyHeritage-users-receive-matches-with-my-Geni-tree-

m Jeff Gentes, thank you for answering my comment... i don't understand why that happened as to my knowledge my family opened a family tree only in this website(geni) and NOT in myheritage even when i read that geni was bought by my heritage... i hardly use this website and of course i am not planning to pay for a my heritage account to erase my data from there, in case that it exists there...
I can see that my name is not anymore in that list, where it also mentioned that it was from geni, but if i google my name i still can see that my full name turns up in the google search, so i hope that google updates soon this so that it disappears... i just don't like the situation...

Jeff, Geni Curator m, you can set your permissions so that Google will not index your page. Uncheck the box "Let the public search for me (profile privacy settings apply)" http://www.geni.com/account_settings/permissions
Let me also make it clear that Geni has not copied any data to MyHeritage. If you're seeing identical information on that site (as a match), it's because someone in your family started a tree over there.

Bjørn P. Brox And the reason why seeing so many details on that match, which you consider should be private, is because the system concludes that you are close family. Other, none family members will not see those details.

m Thank you again Jeff, I did uncheck those settings long ago and i had also then, set my info as private here...
I understand what you are saying perfectly, but is just like i said, when i googled my first name and my last name, it appears on google a list of people that have my second name and to my surprise i could read my full name (2 names, 2 last names) together with info of my siblings on a page of myheritage listing people with my second name, including me; for the most people says that they are public voters in Venezuela, for a few others it says that the info is from the US public records index and under my name said that it was coming from geni...
So i came here, edited and deleted as much info as i could, without deleting my profile, as i want to first try to understand why and try to fix it... so, while editing, my name in both websites (here in geni and in that list of myheritage), were automatically updated, and that is why you only see my name here as M and no photo, etc... now i see still the google search result, but i seem to be off the list, gladly and hopefully very soon that google search will not show that reference to my full name...
I don't have anything to hide but i am careful of sharing such sensitive info as my whole name on the internet, that i guess you can imagine that i didnt like finding...
I really have no idea if any of my family started a family tree on my heritage or not, but what i don't understand is how if my profile here was private appeared there in a public list and that when i edited my name and deleted my profile photo here on geni, it was also automatically updated on that list...
Anyway, i thank you for your input and hopefully it is solved...
