The problem: my relationship path to ABCD is shown as: me > my mother > her sister > her daughter > her son (ABCD)
Then the system describes ABCD as my first cousin, which is wrong. ABCD's mother is my first cousin, and ABCD is my nephew (or first nephew?).
Can anything be done by Geni about this?
ABCD is neither not your nephew or first cousin.
What Geni would tell you is "first cousin once removed", meaning being a first cousin with one generations separation.
This is the standard most genealogical programs display such a relationship, but I agree - it is better ways to show it, - especially since the that is also used when the generation shift goes the other way, and does not give any genders like a nephew or grandmother tells. Your great aunts son is also called your first cousin once removed, and in general only genealogists use the expression "removed".
You are into a better way to describe your relationship to ABCD: Orally you would probably call him your (first) cousin's son, or your aunts grandson.

This is what I call a two step relationship path, where the first step is describing the path to the first common ancestor and then the path from there.
The advantage with such a rule is that it both describes the direction the generation difference goes and also includes gender on both the common ancestor and the endpoint.
We once had a discussion with Geni about starting to use such a description, and they agreed that it looks better and is easier to translate to other languages, but I don't know what the status is.
