there are a lot of problems. i just need the entire tree shut down. I tried deleting everybody individually, but some people claimed their accounts and the rest of their (immediate) families cannot be deleted. Everybody wants to shut down the tree. I started the whole thing so I should be able to do it, right? Can someone tell me how?

Beverly Ann Williams It would seem that my husband has two wives. Actually, he only has one; that'd be me. Someone else has added a *wife* to my husband by the name of Beverly Ann Brenden. The manager of this name has the profile set to private. My husband's profile is set the same way, though I didn't do that. I thought, perhaps - like at Ancestry, I could delete her. No. So I tried to delete my husband (I have limited family for him and it would not be a chore to add him back in) but because someone else is managing his profile - I can't even do that. This same manager has taken my tree captive, with many inaccuracies. I have written to her, but since I cannot tell if she is active, and it seems these profiles were creative in 2010, I have no way of knowing if or when she will make the changes ... can Geni help me?

Jeff, Geni Curator Beverly, I've disconnected Beverly Ann Brenden from your husband's profile. You should be able to remove managers on your husband's profile if they are outside his family group via the action menu, management. The manager of Beverly Ann Brenden is an active member (online yesterday), so she should get back to you soon. It looks like an improper merge may have been done in 2013 - too old for me to undo. So she'll want to recreate a David Williams profile for her Beverly Brenden and then recreate their children.

Donna Marie Williams I want my entire tree deleted. Much of it is incorrect and won't do any good for your "world tree" and I am not willing to attack it one person at a time - and I don't think I should have to. I appreciate your "curator" help, but just want the tree deleted. It was posted when I was a newby and I have learned so much since then. Thank you in advance.

Brennan ZT My family tree got merged earlier this year. On another account I had my family all made and done up. I then found a merge request and I was unaware of what would happen if I merged the profiles together. I thought that if your merged two profiles, it would just merge the information of that one person, not another branch. After doing that, it added a lot of people, duplicates of others, and wrong information. I tried making a post on the geni help, but i got no reply. Since nobody helped me, I decided to make another account which is this one, I had to add all my family members back, and I wanted my family tree to be secure with nothing happening to it, so I made all the profiles I put up private. Then this curator which has no relation to me, decides to merge my new family tree again. I recently came back onto the website, and now ive got more merges in my family tree. Because people keep messing around with my family tree, I became inactive and I lost interest of learning about the family. Please, if someone can undo all these merges for me and make my account fully private, please do so.

Jeff, Geni Curator Brennan, Geni has tasked curators with merging duplicates. The goal is one profile for one person. I'd be happy to help you merge your tree and remove all duplicates and help fix any errors.

Cecile Ann Avery-Pigman To Jeff, Geni Curator,
I am not sure if you will be able to help me as I am only a basic member. I have been having an issue which I could go into great detail about but as it is a long story I would rather not. I was going to delete my tree and account but it seems that my tree and my ancestors no longer belong to me so that is not an option either.
Here is the situation in a nut shell: My husband has been a basic Geni member for several years (connected through ftdna) he joined back when you were allowing gedcom uploads. I only recently joined (also via ftdna) of course gedcoms are no longer allowed so MY ancestors have to be put in manually. We (my husband and I) thought that if we merged my tree with his that my ancestors (which were in his tree) would carry over into mine, but somehow they didn't.
Now that we are merged ALL my dna matches go through him. What I mean is, Geni sends me a notification that I have a dna match so I click that persons profile and then "find path" and the path routes through my husband. It will go "you -->your husband --> his father --> etc."
First, I don't understand how ANY of my dna matches can route through my husbands ancestors as my husband and I do not share ANY dna. Someone on the public discussions suggested it was because I had so few ancestors in my tree and my husband has so many. That explanations makes me say WTF? So what, I still don't see how MY dna matches can route through my husband.
Whatever the case is, I would like one of two things -- if possible. What I would really like is to completely delete everything, but from reading all of the above posts and from what I have seen in clicking on delete for myself it seems impossible.
Would it then be possible to UN-MERGE my husbands tree from mine?
I would rather click on matches and have them say there is no path than to have them all going through my husbands family which is making no sense to me at all.
I look forward to hearing what you have to say.

Terry Cooper How do you delete your tree that you've just started and no one has claimed anything?

Patricia Gangl I want to delete my tree. There are too many inaccuracies in it to bother with "fixing" it. How do I do that?
I see it can't be deleted if it's a shared tree. How do I know if my tree is "shared?" I haven't invited anyone to it. If individuals on the tree are also on others trees, does that matter?

GAfonso Hello. Can I request removal of my current tree? I can’t see an option online to just shut it down. There’s no other members. I’m working on another version that should be ready in a couple of months, so once it is ready I’ll import here but for now I need to remove all data at once instead of going one by one. Thank you.

I would like to delete the entire tree and readd using GEDCOM of my current tree. How can I do this? Will closing my account delete the entire tree??
