Do you want to simply add their profile to you tree, or do you also want to invite them to become a Geni member?
In order to "invite" someone (i.e.: a family member) onto Geni, you need to first create a profile for them.
That is sometimes easiest to do from the "Tree View" ... which you get to by clicking the word "Tree" at the top of the Geni window. (You might want to try out some of the "Preference" settings for that "Tree View" to find out the different ways you can "control" what you see in that view -- particularly as your tree branch gets larger and when you connect into -- or simply view -- the "World Tree".
Once you have a profile created for the person you want to invite, add their email address to have an 'invitation' sent to them. It's that simple.
I would also send them a separate email telling them that you did indeed invite them to join Geni and how much you enjoy it.
