I am experiencing some very distant relative that has added information and duplicate profiles that show up in my tree (some that have attached somehow as spouses) that are not accurate as far as where are in the family tree. Therefore, for instance my aunt Sally shows up as a sister to a particular brother but also shows up as a half-sister.
I have blocked this person (tenth cousin for farther out), but how do I remove these profiles from my tree?

Jane, it sounds like you just have a tree that has been merged, but has not been completely merged. You have pending conflicts, duplicates that need to be merged into a single tree. I can help with that if you're unfamiliar with the process of merging and resolving conflicts if you point me to the profile in question. I'm not sure that blocking the other person will be any help, in fact, it may make it harder to resolve the situation. Most likely they inherited the profiles from someone that left Geni or are in some other way connected to you. Often curators inherit profiles and are happy to turn them over, but if you block them, they won't be able to help resolve the issues. No one wants an incorrect or messed up tree, so just let us know where the problem is at and we'll try to address it.

Lavina R. Perrine has two sets of parents. The correct ones that I entered are Samuel Perrine and Lavine Unknown. I tried to remove the other set of parents (same names except Levina is mother) but cannot because it would "split tree" which is okay because of duplicate children too. Can you help. If I did block you, I can unblock you. Got sort of crazy blocking users because of massive duplicates being added. Trying to work with one of the users who has added my great grand mother as my great aunt. Thanks.
Just to verify, they're not duplicates? They look the same. If it's just a duplicate set, we should merge them as oppose to disconnecting them.
In my opinion, they are not duplicates. Someone else entered them and they do not have correct information in comparison to what I have.
I've disconnected them. But I wanted to clarify when profiles are considered duplicates. It's it usually the case that they were added by someone else - that's the point of merging trees. Duplicates are seen when two people create profiles of the same person. Our intent is to merge such profiles into a single profile. So the question is if this Samuel Perrine and Lavina the same two people as Samuel Perrine and Levina. Is it a different family. If we believe they are the same people, then they should be merged. Aside from the minor variation in the spelling of the mother, I couldn't find any indication that would lead someone to think they were different people. But, I've gone ahead and disconnected it. Just something to keep in mind as you get closer to integrating with the world tree.
