Unable to edit the living status on death of an active member

I have added him & now managing the profile.He joined some time in 2010 with his email address.. Last year september he passes away. But I am unable to edit his profile to effect the change in status. I tried to enter this event on the Time line, but that does not stop geni sending birthday & anniversary reminders. Its some bug. I request some one to rectify this.
