How do I contact a member of Geni to report a mistake in a date for an ancestor. I'm not myself a member. Thanks

Jeff, Geni Curator I'm not sure if there is any way to contact the profile manager if you're not a user. Once a user, which is free to become, each profile should have a "Contact Manager" link, which sends a message to the manager(s) of the profile. Alternatively, you could start a discussion on the profile or if the profile is public, edit the date yourself. I have suggested to Geni that they allow an option for contact for non-members, but it would have to be given options. Some of our users already get harassing messages just for managing a profile of a celebrity, thinking they must be related or something, so there would have to be some opt-out ability built in. There is a features request link at the top of this help page. I suggest creating one or here is one that is close if you want to give it a thumbs up.

Ann Spiess I signed up thinking this was a free site, as there was never any mention of money or subscriptions. I only wanted to write a note to a member about an ancestor of mine that they have. I cannot do so, because when I click on the information all I get is a page telling me how much I have to pay for a site that I thought was free. Sadly, there is no point in my continuing with this site.

Jeff, Geni Curator Ann, there is no cost to contact a member. There is only cost for certain advanced features, like searching trees and data subscriptions. Keep in mind that if a site is completely free, then in most cases, you are what is being sold. Who are you trying to contact?

Colleen Flannery That is not true about free sites because WikiTree has remained totally free with no need to sell anything. It is a true community of Genealogist working together for a common goal.
