Why is it allowed to add persons with the term name “No Name” or “NN”?

In one case I found that an administrator had added 3 generations with the term “No Name” for the xxx great grandfather of my wife. I this case I sent a message to the administrator for deleting this text. However, his or her explanation was very simple; ‘it was impossible do delete these inputs.’ I feel this is too easy to answer when 3 generations with “No Name” is the end of a big family tree. Later I have also found other cases of the “NN” term added by others.

Instead of having the ordinary open box with the text; ‘Add this Person’, we now have a lot new boxes made by “Head Administrators” with the text “No Name” or “NN”.

I am afraid these fictional head administrators blocks others from being the first who enter the real name on Geni or from being the head administrator for a new real person? I do hope I am wrong about this.

 

I would be happy if Geni or the Curators can delete obvious imaginary people on the Geni Tree and stop members from attributing new persons in the same category.

  Some times I see this when other information is available, but not the name, such as the birth location and date.  Or if a person has two wives, they want to make sure that there is a distinction, other wise someone might lump them in with the first wife.  However, I have seen cases were people just added it like a place holder, adding no value.  In cases of deleting profiles, you usually have to start at the top.  So for example if a person has a parent, you won't be able to delete the profile.  You have to delete the parent first.  If you need help, a good forum to post in may be this one: http://www.geni.com/discussions/80793

  As for managers, there is no real "head administrator" in the sense of permissions - all managers are equal.  When a message is sent to contact the manager, it goes out to multiple managers.  The only distinction is visually as one is listed first, while you have to click "x others" to see the other managers.  Also, as you describe, the first to add it will get the distinction of "Added by", but a merge may change that if the other person added it before them.  Being the primary manager doesn't not equal added first - Geni uses several methods for determining the primary manager listed, to incude who has the most data and the closest connection.  So if you create a profile that has the name and date (more information), then you'll likely become the primary manager in a merge.  So you could just create an additional spouse, fill in the info, then merge them, making you the primary.  For me, it don't care about these particulars, but I understand the concern.
