Jeff, Geni Curator Geni does not have a location based help or a method to do what you ask. I could probably put you in touch with a curator in your area or you could see if one focuses on research in your area (http://www.geni.com/projects/Geni-Curators/9960). We have several Jean Bye's on the site, are you the Jean Bye from "Dewsbury"? Curators may or may not be professional genealogists though and their voluntary assistance with research may be limited. We often have projects that will focus on the settlers of an area or a particular surname, so you could search there (http://www.geni.com/projects) as well as just posing the question to the discussion forum (http://www.geni.com/discussions) or click on the discussion tab of the profile you're trying to research (which tags it for easy reference in the discussion).
If you're seeking a professional genealogist, you could take a look at the Association of Professional Genealogists (http://www.apgen.org). Here is a site that list several organizations for particular countries. http://www.genealogy.com/20_myra.html
