How to turn off geni email notifications for non-geni user?

My second cousin once removed asked me to help him with lots of email he's receiving from geni.  He is 83 and doesn't have much computer skills. 

I explained to him how to turn off geni email notifications, however he said he doesn't have geni account. Probably someone entered his email address, and now he's receiving tons of updates about people he doesn't know, which makes him confused.

So, the question is: How to turn off mail notifications for a person who doesn't have geni account?

  He obviously have an account since he get those emails.
  Ask him to take a look at the bottom of these emails. - there should be a link there he should click to stop them from coming and it will bring him to his account as well.
