I just started using Geni, and have been inviting my family members to follow me. For some reason they seem to be getting emails every time I make any changes on anything. They may love me a lot, but don't necessarily want to quite this much info on what I am doing. Is there a way for me to turn off this feature or at least be able to set when I want an update sent to them?

You can make some adjustments in your own Recent Activity setting where you can make some adjustments which of your stories get published.
Secondly you can remind your relatives that at the bottom of every email they get from Geni there are clear instructions on how to reduce the number of such emails, - or direct them to the Notifications settings directly.
When it comes to the Geni homepage Recent Activity section you also have a Filter option to the top right.
