Do I have to pay for a version of Geni to get any help like this? All I'm trying to do is add a death date to my dad. That field is on other relatives but not his.
Before I spend hours on this program, if this is the way it's going to work, then is there a better program out there?
Nope...
The reason why you cannot edit your father's profile is that he was a Geni user himself, so you need some help from Geni customer support to remove him as a user and leaving a normal profile you can edit yourself..
To fix this you go to his profile, select Report from the Actions menu, and select Deceased as report reason.
Geni customer will usually respond immediately to such report, especially when coming from a close relative.
