Can I turn off MyHeritage record matches?

Today I noticed a new look for the Matches section.  In addition to tree matches, requested merges, tree conflicts and data conflicts, we now have record matches and SmartMatches that require a MyHeritage subscription.  I do not need or want a MyHeritage subscription.  I just want to see my matches that are within the Geni tree.  Is there any way to remove the record matches from my default view?  I already tried de-authorizing MyHeritage from within the Applications section of my Account Settings, to no avail.  

In short, as a Type A sort, it bugs me to be shown that I have over 1000 matches when really, in Geni tree terms, I do not.

  Tried to log in on MyHeritage with your Geni email and password?

  As someone that has tested these features, I can say that they really add a lot of value.  The matches have been extremely accurate and have helped me find some great documentation and additional family members.  Anyway, just figured I would mention it. :)

  Oh, you can filter them.  This will list just the tree matches. http://www.geni.com/list/matches?filter=tree_matches

  Jeff, you might be able to turn off future ones but you can't get rid of the ones there now.

  Bjorn,  I tried and it didn't work.

  I want them GONE. I want only the Geni. matches showing.  It shows almost 2000 matches.  I don't want to pay for another service to remove them. PLEASE HELP ME...

  Thank you, Bjørn.  I am now automatically logged in to MyHeritage.com.  This changed since earlier, when it was not automatically recognizing me as a Geni Pro user and was immediately prompting for an additional subscription.  Given Jeff's endorsement of the record matches, I will give it a fair chance...as obviously, I can see the benefit...but I still think it would be great if this were a feature that could be visible by default or not, depending on a user's preferences.

  I would like this option as well.  People who do not subscribe to MyHeritage should not be peppered with offers they are unwilling to take advantage of.

  Can you please clarify what the situation is here. Do we have to pay approx $85 to look at the new "smart matches"? I have tried to look at a few of them but the link simply takes me to a page offering a My Heritage subscription. Some of my ancestors are quite well known and the Internet is littered with copies of some branches of my family tree - many of them with incorrect details. As far as I've been able to see the My Heritage ones are no different but I would like to be able to have a look before I decide whether to pursue this further.

  If there's no free option for Geni members I am not interested in Geni promoting new products in this way and I want to opt out.

  There are some that are free, such as Find-A-Grave, (I think WikiTree), and probably some others coming.  Things that require a data subscription death, birth, census, newspapers and access to MyHeritage trees have a cost.  The accuracy of MyHeritage trees might be similar to other online trees.  They do have access to this technology, which usually helps improve accuracy and documentation.  However, to get access to so many comparable trees, would require a subscription with Ancestry or MyHeritage, which maybe one of them will have that new piece of information your looking for.  The big thing is that they all come to you, matched with a profile, easily sourced.  Just depends on how much your time is worth - each person has their own budget for genealogy and their drive to make break throughs.  They'll be adding a very large amount of new records in the very near future - stay tuned, exciting stuff.

  That does not work.

  I simply do not want to see them, *especially in the tree view*.  I have not elected to pay for a MyHeritage subscription, so they are of no use to me at this time.  They clutter the screen with useless iconic buttons, and actually *obscure* the local (Geni) matches in the tree view.  They have made my experience at Geni *worse*.  I simply want an option to disable Record Matches and Smart Matches.

  Thanks Jeff. So the answer is yes, we have to pay if we want to see this info.

  I'm with Robert. I don't want to see these new indicators. My family tree is a mess now with all these unnecessary numbers attached to people.

  How do I register a complaint with Geni?

  Geni checks these threads periodically, so you could consider your complaint noted.  You could place a ticket, but they are aware that some users are unhappy with the display preference.
