Hi, I merged my tree with the tree of my cousin.
Now it looks like my father is his own brother, as well as a few other strange duplicates. The problem may have come in with my cousin not assigning wives their married surnames. I can't convince her to change them, and apparently I can't undo a merge.
Is there a curator out there who would be so kind as to try and fix my tree? I really want to keep building my tree, but it's demotivating to see all these duplicates.

I did faced this situation so many times after merging with other trees. Takes time to make the tree looks good again after that.
I believe you should also be able to fix your father profiles as he is your immediate family. When viewing the tree, you can click on "more" on your father's profile. Then select Resolve Duplicates. A window should pop up. You should be able to see 2 profiles of your father. Drag one of them onto the other one, the Merge Duplicates. That should do the trick.
Check up the relationships tab under edit profile the next time.
First of all you will see that the parent listing is a pull-down menu for easy moving over to another parent set, - sometimes you have to do it in several steps, and it is best to do it in tree view to see immediate results. After some seconds in the relationships tab you will also get options to cut connections.
We progressed farther faster using another genealogy service. My brother and father have the same first name. When I entered my brother he showed up as both my brother and father. Merge doesn't fix this.
