I've defined my family group to be "1st cousins and closer", but I keep on getting birthday / anniversary notifications for distant relatives. How do I limit birthday notifications to more immediate family?

Jonathan Rousso My cousin in my dad's side has complained to me - as I took the roll and edited my family tree and added as much information as I could, which included emails, and he said that he keeps getting birthday notifications that are related to my mother's side, people he doesn't even know. Why is it like that? How can I edit his profile so that he gets only notifications for relatives he is related to?

Jeff, Geni Curator There are things he can do to his account to stop those notifications.
1) https://www.geni.com/account_settings/family Modify the Family Group. He can change the setting on how far out on his wife's side.
Or
2) https://www.geni.com/account_settings/notifications Turn off birthday notifications
Or
If your father is divorced from your mother, then changing the relationship status from spouse to ex-spouse will remove the family group connection to that side of the family.
