How do I open a GEDCOM File

I've downloaded the Gedcom file but now I can't open it. Can somebody please help.

  Charmaine You import a Gedcom to any stand alone genealogy program on your personal computer.
   There are many out there, some better than others and some are free.

  That is probably not what you want, try this https://gramps-project.org/ also free and is tree software
