Is it possible to Upload a Family Tree?

Hello,

We have collected around 200+ family trees of  around 6 generations and all this data is in the form of  Doc( Adobe page maker to say ) .

 

Now since this is static, i am looking for a software to which i can load all this data, and share it with the community so that they take care of corrections and additions for future generations.

 

So my questions:

1) Is there any easy way i can load these 200 families into Geni.  ( like spreadsheet loader kind of  a utility ) .

2) Is there any offline version / standalone version of Geni where i can synchronize my work on Release basis. !

 

At the moment, we are on facebook, and tagging all the family members across the world on the family tree, and all addition requests are taken as offline.

There are regular books published to share within the community.

 

i am eager to spend some money ,time and efforts on this project and make it BIG for the community we created with the help of Geni, so your help is much appreciated.

  Kesari Katakam,  The only way to import to Geni is to use a GEDCOM, and at the present time GEDCOM imports are disabled, There is no offline version / standalone version of Geni where you can synchronize.

  I don't know of any standalone genealogy program which you could use to do what you desire but there may be one. You will have to check with program makers or search for one.

  Eldon I have a similar question.  My Myheritage tree is missing many people that are in my gedcom and my other databases.   If it is disable to import, how do I get the rest of these people in?   Will it be enabled soon?

  Frederick, one method is to use the SmartCopy tool.  https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783

  It requires a Geni Pro membership to copy family members into Geni, but you could do a free 15 day trial.

  thank you Jeff.  I will try that.  I am already geni Pro I think.

  In the earlier discussion I totally understand how importing gedcoms can lead to duplicates.  I just finished merging a whole bunch of dups in my main Heredis tree.  but then I learned they have a button where you can choose only import those that are missing.  that might be a way you could do it if you reactivate import.    hopefully this smart copy will work.   Fred
