Can someone help me please I had a merge request from my sister-in-law for a merge of family trees
I said yes but now there is a big stuff up as I am now a stepsister to myself and my brother's and sisters
of which she has put onto the tree and it looks like my mother has been married twice.
But she has only been married the once and that was to my father this is one my mothers side of the tree under (Whiting)
Lesley, I'd be happy to help you out with this. I'm going to try and walk you through it, but if you run into any trouble, just let me know and I'll take care of it for you. Since the additional spouse of your mother is "empty" what we want to do is just move your father to that spot. Follow these instructions for a move on your father, and once he appears in the hover box, drag your father over the "Add This Person" profile that occupies the father slot for your siblings. http://help.geni.com/entries/469824-How-can-I-show-more-than-one-relationship-between-the-same-two-people-
For the duplicate profile of yourself, you can do two things: merge or delete. To merge, again do a move but on your own profile and drag it over the duplicate. Alternatively, you could use the more menu on one of your parents to do a resolve duplicates, which will bring you to a screen to drag the duplicates onto each other and merge them. The other option is just to delete the extra profile by clicking the little (x) on the profile in tree view or delete profile from the action menu in profile view.
