I have tried to make my profile PUBLIC, but can't. I have changed everything 3 or 4 times with no result. Please help. I am a basic user, is that why my change from public to private is being ignored?

Jeff, Geni Curator Are you trying to make it public or private, as you provide conflicting information in your statement. No, basic membership has nothing to do with it.
The settings to control what is visible is here:
* https://www.geni.com/account_settings/profile_privacy
The setting to control if your profile is indexed by search engines (like Google):
* https://www.geni.com/account_settings/permissions "Let the public search for me (profile privacy settings apply)"
Do note that when you search for yourself in Google, then click the link to see that profile, you'll be seeing it as logged in as you. To test visibility, you need to do it from an unauthenticated browser or log out of Geni.

Jeff, Geni Curator Well, you also said "my change from public to private is being ignored". So don't act like a jerk. As a volunteer, I'm under no obligation to help you.
Based on the links I provided, what is your current settings. What appears to be happening? Are the settings you choose not being maintained or are you not able to see your profile pubically? What are you seeing publicly and what do you expect to see. Also not that Google is not instantaneous. It can take weeks for search engines to find and list your profile. -
Jeff, Geni Curator Here is what I see is public on your profile, which is indexed by Google: Name, current location, & birth date. It doesn't look like you have a profile photo to make public or a birth location. I don't see an about on your profile. So what information are you expecting to see that doesn't appear to be showing?
