Dianne, the merge was likely done by a Geni Curator; people appointed by Geni management to build and improve the World Family Tree, assist users, and tasked with merging duplicates into a single profile, tying your branch into another branch of the world tree. You can find out more about curators on the Geni wiki: http://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Curators
The goal of Geni is to build one family tree, and curators have been asked by Geni management to assist in that process. If you believe this merge was in error (the two profiles were not the same person), let myself or another curator know and we can review the change, undo the merge or otherwise correct the mistake. If you're concerned about privacy, you can see whether this merge has brought new users into your Family Group by checking this list: http://www.geni.com/list?group=family If there's anyone there you wouldn't trust to view your private profiles, you can click on their name to view their profile, then choose "Block This User" from the Actions pull-down menu. I know that seems like a bother, and we apologize if the merge feels like an intrusion, but there are many advantages to having your tree merged with others -- you'll find connections you previously didn't know existed, and maybe even find some new cousins! Geni created this page to give you more information: http://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more

Hi Jeff,
This is also happening to me. It has taken me years to research all the correct information, but somehow, someone is adding false history to my tree. Pictures are also being added next to some family members.
I have not authorized anyone to make changes on my account. Nor have I given anyone my login information.
I need to know how this can be stopped and also how to restore my account to the previous version that I had created.
Naimatullah, Geni is a collaborative shared tree. So when someone is adding incorrect information, the best thing to do is correct it, then start a discussion or send them a private message. If it is an incorrect ancestry and you're not able to disconnect it, you're welcome to get the assistance of a curator - we can do so and add notes or capstone profiles to prevent future errors. This is probably the best thread to get help with that: https://www.geni.com/discussions/156925
However, looking at your tree, I'm sure it's a bit confusing as it's in the middle of a merge that has not been completed. I'd be happy to help with that to make things look as they should then we can address any inaccurate information. It even looks like you have a second account on Geni and branches from Alton.
Looks like you've duplicated a large amount of your existing family tree. I've started merging them, but need to run out for a bit. I'll continue when I get back. Since there was a little bit of name variation, you may want to review the data conflicts between your profiles and the existing ones. https://www.geni.com/list/data_conflicts
