My stepdaughter put my wife's family on this computer. I would like to start a separate tree for my family, have been unable to find a starting place.

Jeff, Geni Curator Hello Alice,
Geni is a single world tree which we share and collaborate, tying all families together through our genealogical relationships. Thus her tree is your tree and we wouldn't want you to start a separate branch. In fact, when we see duplication of the same profiles, we try to merge them back into a single tree. It is different than the traditional model of thousands of isolated trees, which if you prefer, is the model of Geni's parent company MyHeritage. See the mission of Geni: https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more
If you're concerned about privacy, you can see members in your Family Group by checking this list: http://www.geni.com/list?group=family and adjust the size of your family group in your settings: https://www.geni.com/account_settings/family/ If there's anyone in the list that you wouldn't trust to view your private profiles, you can click on their name to view their profile, then choose "Block This User" from the Actions pull-down menu. I know that seems like a bother but there are many advantages to having a single tree -- you'll find connections you previously didn't know existed, such as how you may be connected to famous or historical individuals! https://www.geni.com/popular If you still have concerns, please let me know and I'll be happy to discuss.

Jeff, Geni Curator Sorry, should have stated this.. in short, feel free to expand and build on to your existing tree. That's what we want. :)
