I am trying to note a death, so that Geni stops sending mail about this person. I checked the existing community information. Those discussions ended a couple of years ago. I tried following their ideas, but have run into a wall. I have no links on the individual's profile that allow me to register the death -- and Geni will not allow me to contact them, bec I only have the basic membership. Surely, there is something that can be done??!!!

Jeff, Geni Curator You'll need to report the person as deceased via the actions menu. Here are some instructions: http://help.geni.com/entries/499442-how-can-i-update-the-profile-for-someone-who-is-deceased
If you're having an issue, then just let me know the person and I'll take the action necessary. Also, you should be able to contact a manager if you're a basic member. Of course, if it's a claimed profile or the person has abandoned the treee, then you wouldn't get a reply.

Shelley Jean Madigan I reported the death of my brother-in-law, Robert McNamara, this morning but his profile is not showing deceased. I used the "Actions" at the top and I thought it worked but it is not showing deceased. So I did it again and got a message saying his death is already reported. How long will it take before his profile shows "deceased"? I put his date of death in remarks when I reported his death. He died 3/21/2015. His birthdays and anniversaries are still being announced when he has been deceased over 2 years. Shelley Madigan

Geni Support Team If a relative has claimed their account with their email address, then you will need to report their profile as Deceased via the Actions dropdown. Once we receive the report, our customer service team can assist with unclaiming the account so that you and your relatives may edit it.
