There are two subscriptions available on Geni, so it depends what type of Match the email was about. The Tree Matches are duplicate profiles that exist on Geni. Since Geni is a collaborative world tree, we want to remove duplicates and combine common ancestors. This is part of the Geni Pro Subscription. The other subscription, which I think is the one you're talking about, is the Smart and Record Matches, which is offered through MyHeritage. This includes a data subscription and is a match against records and online trees in the MyHeritage database. Essentially, Geni Pro is power tools for collaboration and working in the Geni world tree. MyHeritage is research tools for discovering your Ancestry and new information.
