Once in a while, a tab where I had geni opened shows the Chinese e-trade site aliexpress.com. Is this a known issue? Can geni.com solve this so as not to send me off to buy cheap Chinese merchandise?

Jeff, Geni Curator Sounds like your browser has been exploited, which has nothing to do with Geni. I'd suggest trying a different browser and scanning your computer for malware. There is no known issue where Geni is opening tabs to aliexpress. Some removal guides:

Gabriel Sol I was suffering from Activities.aliexpress.com ads while visiting Geni. Is your site affected? Or is it my browser? Can I trust this guide?? http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-activities-aliexpress-com-ads.html

Jeff, Geni Curator Gabriel, Geni is not infected. This is a web browser based adware. As for the removal site, I don't know it's trust level but it looks legit. They usually suggest several products like malware bytes and spy hunter for removing such infections.
