Is it okay to use a map as a profile image?

A profile manage contacted me and said maps were too generic to use as images, even if they were specific to the date and location of the person. He quoted a geni policy on this which turned out to be from a discussion about the use of photographs on profiles that were not of the person whose profile it was and was stated as a first draft of a proposed policy.

Maps were not mentioned in any part of this discussion and I couldn't find anything about using maps as images on geni. Can anyone help me with this?

  In general, we look for photos of the person, artwork of the person's likeness, gravestones and in some cases I've seen the home that the person lived in or documents that contain their signature or information about them.  It starts to get fuzzy and disputed after that.  Keep in mind that changing the default slows down viewing / loading the tree as the defaults are already cached by your browser.  In addition, if someone had a better picture and the profiles were merged, it could take the place of the better picture.  I would tend not to want a map myself for a profile picture of an ancestor as the data is likely already contained in the profile location entries.
